BGP/4/ASPATH_EXCEED_MAXNUM:The number of AS-PATHs exceeded the limit([limit-value]). (Operation=[STRING])

Description

The number of AS_Paths exceeded the maximum value.

Parameters

Parameter Name Parameter Meaning

[limit-value]

Indicates the maximum number of AS_Paths.

Operation

Indicates related operations.

  • Discarding routes: The NLRI will be treated as Withdraw.
  • Using the aggregation command without as-set: Routes are summarized without AS-set.
  • Failing to make a policy effective: The policy will not work.

Possible Causes

  • The maximum number of AS_Paths supported is too small.
  • The AS_Path attribute in the received routes is too long.

Procedure

  1. If services are not affected, no action is required.
  2. If services are affected, check whether the maximum number of AS_Paths supported is too small.

    • If the maximum number of AS_Paths supported is too small, go to Step 3.
    • If whether the maximum number of AS_Paths supported is too small cannot be determined or the maximum number is normal, go to Step 4.

  3. Run the as-path-limit [ as-path-limit-num ] command in the BGP view to configure an appropriate maximum number of AS_Paths supported.
  4. Collect log information and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel.
