BGP/4/RTID_NULL

BGP/4/RTID_NULL:Failed to establish the BGP connection because the router ID was invalid. (InstanceName=[STRING])

Description

The BGP connection failed to be established because no router ID was configured for the local device.

Parameters

Parameter Name Parameter Meaning

InstanceName

Name of a VPN instance.

NOTE:

If the BGP connection fails to be established on the public network, the value of this parameter is Public. If the BGP connection fails to be established on a private network, the value of this parameter is the name of a VPN instance.

Possible Causes

  1. No router ID was configured for the local device, and no IPv4 address was configured for each physical interface and logical interface.
  2. The router-id vpn-instance auto-select command is run in the BGP view or the router-id auto-select command is run in the BGP-VPN instance IPv4/IPv6 address family view, but no IPv4 addresses are configured for the physical and logical interfaces bound to the VPN instance.

Procedure

  1. If the BGP connection fails to be established on the public network, run the router-id command in the BGP view to configure a router ID for the device, or run the ip address command on a physical or logical interface to configure an IPv4 address for the interface.
  2. If the BGP connection fails to be established on a private network, run the router-id command in the corresponding address family view of the BGP VPN instance to configure a router ID for the device, or run the ip address command on a physical or logical interface to configure an IPv4 address for the interface bound to the VPN instance.
