DHCP/4/DHCP_RELAY_WRONG_MAC: DHCP relay receive a dhcp packet with wrong 'chaddr'. (CHADDR=[STRING1], MAC type=[STRING2], InterfaceName=[STRING3]).

Description

The DHCP relay receives a DHCP packet with the incorrect client MAC address.

Parameters

Parameter Name Parameter Meaning
CHADDR MAC address of the DHCP client.
MAC type
MAC address type of the DHCP client.
  • broadcast
  • multicast
InterfaceName

Name of the interface configured with the DHCP relay function.

Possible Causes

The DHCP relay receives a DHCP packet in which the client MAC address field is set to a broadcast or unicast address. To prevent attacks, the device considers this packet as an invalid packet.

Procedure

  1. Check whether there are DHCP attacks based on the client MAC address and the name of the interface that receives the packet.

    • Y=>2.
    • N=>3.

  2. Configure DHCP snooping to check validity of DHCP packets.
