Parameters

Name Meaning

OID

Indicates the MIB object ID of the alarm.

SlotID

Indicates a slot ID.

UnitID

Indicates a chip ID.

PortID

Indicates the port number of the HG channel.

PeerSlotID

Indicates the slot ID of the remote card.

DiscardNumber

Indicates the number of discarded packets.

Threshold

Indicates the alarm threshold for the number of discarded packets.

Interval

Indicates the interval for collecting traffic statistics.

Impact on the System

If this alarm is generated, severe network congestion occurred on the network. If this problem is not solved in a timely manner, more packets will be discarded due to network congestion, which will affect running services.

Possible Causes

Packets are discarded because the uplink traffic volume of the HG channel exceeds the downlink bandwidth capacity.

Procedure

  1. Check whether the card uplink bandwidth is higher than the downlink bandwidth.
    • If so, go to step 2.
    • If not, collect log information and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel. You can collect diagnostic information using the display diagnostic-information command.
  2. Re-plan the networking or replace the card for uplink traffic direction.
