Impact on the System

In direct link packet loss measurement, when the packet loss ratios in five consecutive intervals exceed the alarm threshold, this alarm is reported. The forwarding performance of the link is poor.

Possible Causes

  1. Packets on an interface are lost due to incorrect packet format.
  2. Packets are lost because the packet rate is higher than the maximum bandwidth on the link.
  3. The direct link is faulty.

Procedure

  • Check whether any packet is lost on the interface. Run the display iplpm loss-measure statistics port-flow interface command to check whether any packet is lost on an interface. If so, run the display interface command to find out the packet loss cause.
  • If not, run the display iplpm loss-measure statistics qos-que interface command to check whether packet loss occurs in a queue. If packet loss occurs in a queue, the link is congested. Increase bandwidth on the link to eliminate congestion.
  • If no packet loss occurs in the preceding situations, replace the cable.
