ISIS/4/PEER_FLAPPING_SUPPRESS: The status of peer flapping suppress is changed. (Proc=[USHORT], IfName=[STRING], SuppressPreviousStatus=[STRING], SuppressCurrentStatus=[STRING], Reason=[USHORT])

Description

The status of IS-IS neighbor relationship flapping suppression changed on the local interface.

Parameters

Suppression current status

Reason

Suppression causes are as follows:
  • 1: The suppression exits because the hold-max-cost timer expires.

  • 2: The suppression exits because the hold-down timer expires.

  • 3: A configuration change occurs.

  • 4: A manual operation is performed to exit from flapping suppression.

  • 5: The neighbor relationship frequently flaps.

  • 6: Suppression is aborted forcibly using the reset isis process-id suppress-flapping peer[interface interface-type interface-number ] notify-peer command on the remote device.

Possible Causes

IS-IS neighbor relationship flapping suppression started, or the interface exited from the suppression.

Procedure

  1. Run the display isis last-peer-change [ process-id | vpn-instance vpn-instance-name ] command to check whether frequent interface flapping occurs.

    • If frequent interface flapping occurs, this trap message is informational only and no action is required.
    • If no frequent interface flapping occurs, go to Step 2.

  2. End.
