QOSE/4/BUFFEROVERTHRESHOLD

Message

QOSE/4/BUFFEROVERTHRESHOLD:"The Buffer of port [STRING] is overthreshold. (PeakBuffer=[ULONG], Queue0=[ULONG], Queue1=[ULONG], Queue2=[ULONG], Queue3=[ULONG], Queue4=[ULONG], Queue5=[ULONG], Queue6=[ULONG], Queue7=[ULONG].)"

Description

The buffer usage of the interface exceeds the threshold (80%).

Parameters

Parameter Name Parameter Meaning

[STRING]

Interface number.

PeakBuffer

Peak value of the buffer usage on the interface.

Queue0

Buffer usage of queue 0.

Queue1

Buffer usage of queue 1.

Queue2

Buffer usage of queue 2.

Queue3

Buffer usage of queue 3.

Queue4

Buffer usage of queue 4.

Queue5

Buffer usage of queue 5.

Queue6

Buffer usage of queue 6.

Queue7

Buffer usage of queue 7.

Possible Causes

Microbursts occur on the interface. As a result, the buffer usage on the interface exceeds the threshold (80%).

Procedure

  1. Run the display qos queue statistics interface interface-type interface-number [ queue queue-index ] command on the interface involved in the log to check whether packets are discarded on the interface.
    • If so, go to step 3.
    • If not, go to step 2.
  2. Check whether the system generates this log again after one hour.
    • If so, go to step 3.
    • If not, instantaneous burst traffic exists on the interface. This log is informational only, and no action is required.
  3. Use one of the following methods to reduce burst traffic on the interface:

    • Run the qos burst-mode { enhanced | extreme } command on the interface to change the burst traffic buffering mode to enhanced.

    • Run the eth-trunk trunk-id [ mode { active | passive } ] command to add the interface to an Eth-Trunk to increase the interface bandwidth.

Run the display qos queue statistics interface interface-type interface-number [ queue queue-index ] command on the interface to check whether packets are discarded and check whether the system generates this log again after one hour.

    • If so, go to step 4.
    • If not, the congestion risk of the interface is eliminated.
  4. Collect log information and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel.

You can collect diagnostic information using the display diagnostic-information command.
