Description

RIP/2/DBOVERFLOW:OID [oid] The number of routes on RIP process reached the upper threshold, and thus the RIP process was suspended. (ProcTableIndex=[INTEGER], ProcessId=[INTEGER], DataBaseLimit=[GAUGE])

There has been maximum number of routes added to RIP database for the given process and no more routes can be added to RIP by redistribution or by learning.

oid

Indicates the MIB object ID of the alarm.

ProcTableIndex

Indicates the index of the process table.

ProcessId

Indicates the current process ID.

DataBaseLimit

Indicates the current database limit.

Impact on the System

This notification is generated when the number of routes added to RIP database reaches maximum value. RIP process will be suspended at this state.

Possible Causes

Maximum number of routes are added to RIP database for the given process and no more routes can be added to RIP by redistribution or by learning.

Procedure

  1. Based on the network topology and network planning, reduce the number of RIP routes by reducing unnecessary routes and deleting unnecessary routes.
