Parameters

Name Meaning

OID

Indicates the MIB object ID of the alarm.

IfIndex

Indicates the interface index.

IfName

Indicates the interface name.

BroadcastPktDropped

Indicates the number of discarded broadcast packets.

MulticastPktDropped

Indicates the number of discarded unknown multicast packets.

UnicastPktDropped

Indicates the number of discarded unknown unicast packets.

KnownMulticastPktDropped

Indicates the number of discarded known multicast packets.

KnownUnicastPktDropped

Indicates the number of discarded known unicast packets.

Impact on the System

When an interface receives packets at a high rate, it may suffer from a broadcast storm or heavy traffic, further affecting system services.

Possible Causes

The rate of packets of a certain type received by the interface exceeds the threshold configured for traffic suppression.

Procedure

  1. Run the display flow-suppression interface interface-type interface-number command to check the configuration of traffic suppression on the interface that counters packet loss. Specifically, check the type of discarded packets and the preset rate threshold. Determine whether to adjust the threshold based on the site requirements.
  2. If you cannot determine the necessity of threshold adjustment, collect device configurations, alarms, and logs and contact technical support.
