(Optional) Configuring Ethernet over GRE Reliability

Context

In a stack system, a VE interface will become invalid if the member switch where the interface resides is faulty. In this case, services will be interrupted. To solve this problem, a tunnel interface on a switch can be bound to two VE interfaces. Only one VE interface takes effect at a time. If a VE interface fails, traffic is switched to the other VE interface.

Procedure

  • Perform operations in Configuring Basic Ethernet over GRE Functions repeatedly to configure two VE interfaces and bind them to the same tunnel interface.

Ensure that the two VE interfaces have the same configuration.

If the faulty VE interface becomes valid again, service traffic will not be switched back to it.
