By configuring Source-Specific Multicast (SSM) mapping, you can set up one-to-one mappings between multicast groups and multicast sources.
SSM mapping applies to a VLAN only when the IGMP snooping version running in this VLAN is v3.
If inter-VLAN multicast replication is configured, you only need to configure SSM mapping in the multicast VLAN.
Although SSM mapping takes effect only for IGMPv3 messages in a VLAN, the switch does not convert IGMPv2 messages into IGMPv3 messages before sending the messages to router ports. You can configure IGMP snooping proxy or IGMP snooping Report suppression on the switch to enable the switch to send IGMPv3 messages to the upstream device.
The system view is displayed.
The VLAN view is displayed.
The IGMP snooping version is set to V3 for the VLAN.
The default IGMP snooping version is V2, but this version does not support SSM mapping.
SSM mapping is enabled in the VLAN.
By default, SSM mapping is disabled in a VLAN.
The mapping between a group address and a multicast source address is configured.
The group address must be in the SSM group address range. To change the SSM group address range, see (Optional) Configuring an SSM Group Policy.
After IGMP snooping SSM mapping is configured, the S2720-EI, S5720-LI, S5720S-LI, S6720-LI, S6720S-LI, S5720-SI, S5720I-SI, S5720S-SI, S5730-SI, S5730S-EI, S6720-SI and S6720S-SI forward multicast data by looking up the forwarding table according to the VLAN ID and group address.
