Configuring Attributes for CSNPs

Context

Complete sequence number PDUs (CSNPs) contain summaries of all the LSPs in an LSDB to ensure LSDB synchronization between neighbors. CSNPs are processed differently on broadcast and P2P links.
  • On a broadcast link, CSNPs are periodically sent by a DIS device. If a device detects that its LSDB is not synchronized with that on its neighboring device, the device will send PSNPs to apply for missing LSPs.

  • On a P2P link, CSNPs are sent only during initial establishment of neighboring relationships.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run interface interface-type interface-number

    The interface view is displayed.

  3. (Optional) On an Ethernet interface, run undo portswitch

The interface is switched to Layer 3 mode.

By default, an Ethernet interface works in Layer 2 mode.

    Only the S5720-EI, S5720-HI, S5730-HI, S5731-H, S5731-S, S5731S-H, S5731S-S, S5732-H, S6720-EI, S6720-HI, S6720S-EI, S6730-H, S6730S-H, S6730-S, and S6730S-S support switching between Layer 2 and Layer 3 modes.

  4. Run isis timer csnp csnp-interval [ level-1 | level-2 ]

The interval at which CSNPs are sent is set on the specified interface.

By default, the interval at which CSNPs are sent on a broadcast network is 10 seconds.

Configure Level-1 and Level-2 only when a broadcast interface is specified.
