Configuring Enhanced Stacking Functions

Table 1 describes the enhanced stack configurations. All these operations are optional and can be configured in any sequence.
Table 1 Enhanced stack configurations
Task Description
Configuring MAD

Multi-active detection (MAD) detects multiple master switches after a stack splits.

The MAD configuration is recommended because it minimizes the impact of a stack split on services.

Configuring a System MAC Address Switching Delay

The system MAC address switching delay prevents traffic interruption during switching of the stack MAC address, and minimizes the impact of switching on services.

Configuring the Reserved VLAN of the Stack

You can change the reserved VLAN of the stack and configure services on the default reserved VLAN.

Configuring a Load Balancing Mode for Stack Links
You can configure a load balancing mode to ensure that traffic is properly distributed among multiple stack links.
NOTE:

Only the S5720-HI, S5730-HI, S5731-H, S5731-S, S5731S-H, S5731S-S, S5732-H, S6720-EI, S6720-HI, S6720S-EI, S6730-H, S6730S-H, S6730-S, and S6730S-S series support load balancing for stack links.
