Displaying Stack IDs Through Service Port Indicators

After a stack is set up, use either of the following methods to display stack IDs through service port indicators:

Press the mode switching button to change the mode status indicator to the stack mode without logging in to the stack. You can then determine the stack IDs of the master switch and other stack members by viewing the status of the mode status indicator and service port indicators.

The Table 1 describes how service port indicators determine stack IDs of stack members:

Color	Status and Meaning
Off	This indicator does not indicate the stack ID of a stack member.
Green	If the indicator of a service port is blinking green, the switch where this service port is located is the master switch, and the number of this service port is the stack ID of this switch. If the first to nine service ports indicators of the switch are blinking green, this switch is the master switch, and its stack ID is 0. If the indicator of a service port is steady green, the switch where this service port is located is not the master switch, and the number of this service port is the stack ID of this switch. If the first to nine service ports indicators of the switch are steady green, this switch is not the master switch, and its stack ID is 0.

The methods of setting the mode status indicator to the STACK mode vary according to the switch models that support stacking:

The S5700-SI, S5700-EI, S5700-HI, S6700-EI, S5710-C-LI use the same mode status indicator to show the stack and speed modes. After you press the MODE button, the indicator is steady red and off after 45 seconds, indicating that the switch enters the stack mode.
The S5732-H, S6730-S, S6730S-S, S6720-HI, S6730S-H, and S6730-H have an independent stack master/slave indicator to show the MST indicator. If the indicator is off, the switch is not a stack master. If the indicator is steady green, the switch is a stack master or standalone switch.
Other models have an independent stack mode indicator (STCK indicator). After you press the MODE button, the indicator is steady green or blinking and off after 45 seconds, indicating that the switch enters the stack mode.

Log in to the stack and run the stack led enable [ duration duration-value ] command to enable service port indicators to display stack IDs of stack members.

This command can be executed only when the mode switching button is not pressed to set the mode status indicator to the STACK mode.

This command configuration becomes invalid after port indicators show stack IDs of stack members for the specified time.
