When non-standard Layer 2 protocol packets with a specified multicast destination MAC address need to be transparently transmitted on the backbone network, define Layer 2 protocol characteristics on the PE. Layer 2 protocol characteristics include the protocol name, Ethernet encapsulation format, destination MAC address, and MAC address that replaces the destination MAC address of Layer 2 protocol packets.
When defining Layer 2 protocol characteristics, do not use the following multicast MAC addresses to replace the destination MAC address of Layer 2 protocol packets:
