Licensing Requirements

mDNS relay is a basic feature of the device and is not under license control.

Feature Support in V200R019C10

Only the following switch models support mDNS Relay:

S5720-EI, S5720-HI, S5730-HI, S5731-H, S5731-S, S5731S-H, S5731S-S, S5732-H, S6720-EI, S6720-HI, S6720S-EI, S6730-H, S6730S-H, S6730-S, and S6730S-S

Feature Limitations

• A switch cannot function as both mDNS relay and gateway at the same time. A protection failure will occur if the mdns relay enable and mdns gateway enable commands are both configured on the same switch.
• In a version earlier than V200R019C10, when there is an mDNS proxy on the network, clients and an mDNS gateway must be in the same public network or VPN. In V200R019C10 and later versions, an mDNS proxy can communicate with an mDNS gateway across an MPLS VPN network.
