(Optional) Discarding IPv6 Packets Sent from Users

Context

On an IPv4 network, IPv6 packets are broadcast in a VLAN, and users can learn the MAC addresses of other users from the IPv6 packets. As a result, MFF cannot isolate users.

To prevent this problem, configure the MFF-enabled device to discard IPv6 packets sent from users.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run vlan vlan-id

    The VLAN view is displayed.

  3. Run mac-forced-forwarding ipv6-isolate

The MFF-enabled device is configured to discard the IPv6 packets received from user interfaces. This prevents IPv6 packets from being broadcast in the VLAN.

By default, the MFF-enabled device does not discard IPv6 packets received from user interfaces.
