A multicast switch can identify Multicast Listener Discovery (MLD) messages of a version earlier than its own MLD version but cannot identify MLD messages of a later version. To ensure normal MLD operation, ensure that the switch runs the same MLD version as receiver hosts or a later MLD version.
If there are multiple multicast switches on a shared network segment of hosts, all host-side interfaces of these multicast switches must run the same MLD version. If they are running different MLD versions, MLD cannot function normally on the network.

The interface view is displayed.
The interface is switched to Layer 3 mode.
By default, an Ethernet interface works in Layer 2 mode.
Only the S5720-EI, S5720-HI, S5730-HI, S5731-H, S5731-S, S5731S-H, S5731S-S, S5732-H, S6720-EI, S6720-HI, S6720S-EI, S6730-H, S6730S-H, S6730-S, and S6730S-S support switching between Layer 2 and Layer 3 modes.
The MLD version is specified for the interface.
By default, an interface runs MLDv2 after MLD is enabled on the interface.
