Limiting the Number of Multicast Entries Learned on an Interface

Context

To restrict the number of multicast programs users under an interface can request, configure the maximum number of multicast entries that can be learned on the interface. This configuration limits the volume of multicast data traffic on the interface.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run interface interface-type interface-number

    The interface view is displayed.

  3. Run mld-snooping table limit limit vlan vlan-id

The maximum number of multicast entries learned on the interface is configured.

If the number of multicast entries on the interface already exceeds the configured threshold, the number of multicast entries on the interface does not change and the interface cannot learn new multicast entries.
