Configuring Association Between Monitoring Interfaces and the NMS

Context

The switch monitors status changes of input lines or output lines, generates a trap, and reports the trap to the NMS. For example, if the normal status of the monitoring interfaces on the S5720I-SI is set to the low level, and the input line is in high level, the switch sends a fault trap. When the input line returns to the low level, the switch sends a clear trap.

Pre-configuration Tasks

The switch can send traps to the NMS. For details, see "SNMP Configuration" in the S2720, S5700, and S6700 V200R019C10 Configuration Guide - Network Management.

Procedure

  • On the S5720I-SI:

    1. Run the system-view command to enter the system view.
    2. Run the monitor input line-id enable command to enable the input line monitoring function for monitoring interfaces.

By default, the input line monitoring function is disabled for monitoring interfaces.

    3. Run the monitor input line-id name line-name normal-state { low-level | high-level } command to set input line names and the level of the input line in normal state.

By default, input lines of monitoring interfaces are Input1 and Input2, and the level of the input lines in normal state is low-level.

  • On the S5735-S-I:

    1. Run the system-view command to enter the system view.
    2. Run the monitor output line-id enable slot slot-id command to configure the initial status of the output line monitoring function for monitoring interfaces to enabled. Alternatively, run the undo monitor output line-id enable slot slot-id command to configure the initial status of the output line monitoring function for monitoring interfaces to disabled.

By default, the initial status of the output line monitoring function is not configured for monitoring interfaces.

    3. (Optional) Run monitor output keeptime time slot slot-id

The hold time of the signals indicating that the maintenance compartment door is open or closed is set.

By default, the hold time of the signals indicating the maintenance compartment door on a device is open or closed is 3 seconds.

Verifying the Configuration

  • On the S5720I-SI, run the display monitor input { line-id | all } command to check the input line status.
  • On the S5735-S-I, run the display monitor output { line-id | all } command to check the output line status.
