The switch monitors status changes of input lines or output lines, generates a trap, and reports the trap to the NMS. For example, if the normal status of the monitoring interfaces on the S5720I-SI is set to the low level, and the input line is in high level, the switch sends a fault trap. When the input line returns to the low level, the switch sends a clear trap.

By default, the input line monitoring function is disabled for monitoring interfaces.
By default, input lines of monitoring interfaces are Input1 and Input2, and the level of the input lines in normal state is low-level.
By default, the initial status of the output line monitoring function is not configured for monitoring interfaces.
