Configuring the Multicast Forwarding Table Optimization Mode

Context

By default, the system preferentially allocates hardware resources to IP routing tables, and the MFIB shares hardware resources with the Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) cache table.

If a large number of ARP cache entries and multicast forwarding entries share hardware resources, you can configure the multicast forwarding table optimization mode. In this mode, the system preferentially allocates hardware resources to the MFIB, and the ARP cache table shares hardware resources with IP routing tables.

After you configure the optimization mode or restore the default mode, the system will display a message asking you whether to restart the device. If you do not respond to the message, the system returns to the system view and does not restart. A restart will cause a short-term service interruption, so this command is not recommended.

Only the S5720-EI, S6720-EI, and S6720S-EI support this command.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run set multicast forwarding-table optimization-mode [ slot slot-id ]

The multicast forwarding table optimization mode is configured.
