Configuring the Maximum Number of Downstream Nodes in an IPv6 Multicast Forwarding Entry

Context

When the switch receives a multicast packet, it copies the packet for each downstream node in the matching IPv6 multicast forwarding entry. If there are too many downstream nodes, the switch is overloaded. To reduce the load on the switch, limit the number of downstream nodes in each IPv6 multicast forwarding entry.

Default Settings

By default, an IPv6 multicast forwarding entry can contain a maximum of 128 downstream nodes.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run multicast ipv6 forwarding-table downstream-limit limit

The maximum number of downstream nodes in an IPv6 multicast forwarding entry is configured.
