IPv6 Multicast Data Cannot Be Normally Forwarded

Fault Description

The transit device on an IPv6 multicast network can receive multicast data, but data cannot be transmitted to the leaf device. User hosts cannot receive multicast data.

Procedure

  1. Check whether the multicast boundary is configured correctly.

Run the display current-configuration interface interface-type interface-number command on the device to check whether the multicast boundary is configured on the interface.

If the command output of a specified interface contains the multicast ipv6 boundary command, the multicast boundary is configured on the interface. It is recommended that you run the undo multicast ipv6 boundary { ipv6-group-address ipv6-group-mask-length | all | scope } command to delete this configuration or re-plan the network to ensure that no multicast boundary is configured on the RPF interface or RPF neighbor interface.

  2. Check whether source-based filtering rules are configured correctly.

Run the display current-configuration configuration pimv6 command on the device to view the current configuration in the PIM-IPv6 view.

If the command output contains the "source-policy acl6-number", source-based filtering rules are configured. If the received multicast data is not in the range defined by the ACL, the multicast data is discarded. You are advised to run the undo source-policy command to delete this configuration or set new ACL rules to ensure that multicast data can be forwarded correctly.
