User Hosts in the User VLAN Fail to Receive Multicast Data

Fault Description

After VLAN-based multicast VLAN replication is configured, user hosts in the user VLAN cannot receive multicast data.

Procedure

  • Check whether multicast VLAN replication is correctly configured.

Run the display multicast-vlan vlan vlan-id command to check whether the user VLAN is bound to a correct multicast VLAN.

    • If the user VLAN is not bound to a correct multicast VLAN, run the multicast-vlan user-vlan command to bind VLANs correctly.
    • If the user VLAN is bound to a correct multicast VLAN, check whether other Layer 2 multicast configurations conflict.
The following information shows that user VLANs 100 and 200 are bound to multicast VLAN 10 correctly.
      [HUAWEI] display multicast-vlan vlan 10
       Multicast-vlan : 10
       User-vlan Number : 2
       IGMP snooping state : Enable
       MLD snooping state : Disable
       Prune-source-port state: Disable
       User-vlan Snooping-state
       -----------------------------------------------
       100 IGMP Enable /MLD Disable
       200 IGMP Enable /MLD Disable

  • Check whether Layer 3 multicast forwarding is normal.

Run the ping multicast host command to check whether Layer 3 multicast forwarding is normal. If Layer 3 multicast forwarding is abnormal, run the capture-packet { interface interface-type interface-number | acl acl-number } * command to obtain packet header information from the incoming multicast data flow on the inbound interface. Check the TTL value in the packet header.
