Clearing Statistics About IPv4 PIM Control Packets

Context

If a PIM-enabled interface has been forwarding multicast packets for a time, the system stores statistics on a large number of control messages on this interface. To collect new statistics about PIM control messages, clear the existing statistics. This operation does not affect running of PIM.

Statistics about PIM control messages on an interface cannot be restored after you clear them. Confirm your action before clearing the statistics.

Procedure

To clear statistics about PIM control messages on an interface, run the reset pim [ vpn-instance vpn-instance-name | all-instance ] control-message counters [ interface interface-type interface-number ] command in the user view.
