(Optional) Uploading Performance Statistics Files

Context

The system generates performance statistics files based on the collected performance statistics at a specified interval. To view the performance statistics on a performance management (PM) server, upload performance statistics files to the PM server.

The system uses FTP or SFTP to upload statistics files to a PM server. Statistics files can be uploaded in either of the following modes:
  • Active mode: The system periodically generates statistics files and automatically uploads the files to the PM server.

  • Passive mode: The system periodically generates statistics files. When the system receives a file uploading instruction from the network management system or a file uploading command is executed, the system uploads the statistics files to the PM server.

If the performance statistics collection task is busy writing collected statistics into a file, you may need to wait for a while before performance management configurations are successfully delivered. In this situation, a message is displayed indicating that the performance statistics collection task is busy.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run pm

    The PM view is displayed.

  3. Run pm-server server-name

A process serving the PM server is created, and the PM server view is displayed.

  4. Run the following commands to configure parameters of the PM server to which a performance statistics file will be uploaded.

    • To configure the protocol, IP address, and port number to upload a performance statistics file to the PM server, run the protocol { ftp | sftp } ip-address ip-address [ port port-number | { net-manager-vpn | vpn-instance vpn-instance-name } ] * command.

By default, the PM server port number is 21 (using FTP) or 22 (using SFTP).

Using FTP to upload performance statistics files is insecure. Therefore, using SFTP is recommended.

    • To configure a user name and password for logging in to the PM server, run the username user-name password password command.
    • To specify the path to save performance statistics file on the PM server, run the path destination-path command.

By default, performance statistics files are uploaded to the default path on a PM server.

    • To configure the number of retransmissions for a performance statistics file, run the retry retry-times command.

The default number of retransmissions is 3.

  5. Run quit

    Return to the PM view.

  6. Run upload-config request-name server server-name

A request for uploading performance statistics files to a specified PM server is created.

  7. Upload statistics files to a PM server.

    • Configure the device to automatically upload statistics files.

      1. Run statistics-task task-name

The performance statistics task view is displayed.

      2. Run upload auto request-name

The device is enabled to automatically upload performance statistics files to the PM server.

    • Manually upload statistics files.

      1. (Optional) Run display pm statistics-file [ task-name ]

The performance statistics file list is displayed.

      2. Run upload request-name file filename &<1-16>

Statistics files are uploaded to the PM server.
