(Optional) Configuring LLDP Power Capacity Negotiation

Context

You can configure the TLV in LLDP packets so that the switch can classify PDs using LLDP. Devices that are not configured with LLDP detect and classify PDs by analyzing current and resistance between the switch and PDs. Compared with current and resistance analysis, LLDP provides a more comprehensive and accurate analysis.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run lldp enable

    LLDP is enabled globally.

By default, LLDP is disabled globally.

  3. Run interface interface-type interface-number

    The interface view is displayed.

  4. Run lldp enable

LLDP is enabled on the interface.

If LLDP is enabled globally, LLDP is enabled on interfaces by default.

  5. Run lldp tlv-enable dot3-tlv power

LLDP is configured to advertise the Power Via MDI TLV.

By default, LLDP is configured to advertise the Power Via MDI TLV.

After LLDP is configured to advertise the Power Via MDI TLV, the switch can analyze the interface type, line pairs, power priority, whether the PSE supports MDI, status of MDI power supply, and whether the PSE can control line pairs.

By default, the switch advertises the standard 802.3 Power via MDI TLV in compliance with 802.1ab. If PDs connected to the switch advertise 802.3 Power via MDI TLV in compliance with 802.3at, the switch can automatically change to the 802.3at mode. If you want the switch to advertise only the 802.3 Power via MDI TLV in compliance with 802.3at, run the lldp dot3-tlv power 802.3at on the switch.

  6. Run lldp tlv-enable med-tlv power-over-ethernet

LLDP is configured to advertise the extended Power Via MDI TLV.

By default, LLDP is configured to advertise the extended Power Via MDI TLV.

After LLDP is configured to advertise the extended Power Via MDI TLV, the switch can analyze the power type, power supply, and interface power priority.
