Networking Requirements
Traffic statistics collection is mainly used to locate network faults and narrow the search scope.
As shown in Figure 1, if the PC slowly accesses the server or ping packets are lost, a fault occurs on the network. You can use the traffic statistics collection function to locate the failure point.
Service Deployment
On SwitchA, configure traffic statistics collection in the inbound direction of GE0/0/1 and outbound direction of GE0/0/2. If the numbers of packets in inbound and outbound directions of SwitchA are the same, SwitchA works properly. If the number of packets in the outbound direction is less than the number of packets in the inbound direction, packets are lost on SwitchA and the failure point is SwitchA. The method used to check whether SwitchB fails is similar.
Configure traffic statistics collection in the outbound direction of GE0/0/2 on SwitchA, and configure traffic statistics collection in the inbound direction of GE0/0/2 on SwitchB. If the number of packets in the inbound direction of GE0/0/2 on SwitchB is less than the number of packets in the outbound direction of GE0/0/2 on SwitchA, the link between SwitchA and SwitchB fails.
