Overview of Redirection

Redirection is the process of redirecting packets that match traffic classification rules to a different destination.

The device supports the following redirection functions:
  • Redirection to the CPU: redirects packets to the CPU.
  • Redirection to an interface: redirects packets to a specified interface by which packets need to be processed or through which packets are sent to a specified device.
  • Redirection to a next hop address: redirects packets to a next hop address when the received packets need to be processed by a downstream device. This function is valid for only Layer 3 packets and can be used to implement PBR. For details about PBR, see PBR Configuration in the S2720, S5700, and S6700 V200R019C10 Configuration Guide - IP Unicast Routing.

The S5720-EI, S5720-HI, S5730-HI, S5731-H, S5731-S, S5731S-H, S5731S-S, S5732-H, S6720-EI, S6720-HI, S6720S-EI, S6730-H, S6730S-H, S6730-S, and S6730S-S support redirection to the CPU.
