RIP versions include RIP-1 and RIP-2. The RIP version
must be configured on the device running RIP. Configure the global
RIP version unless you need to specify a different RIP version on
an interface.
Procedure
Configure the global RIP version.
Run system-view
The system view is displayed.
Run rip [ process-id ]
The RIP view
is displayed.
Run version { 1 | 2 }
The global RIP version is configured.
By default, an interface sends only RIP-1 packets
and receives both RIP-1 and RIP-2 packets.
Configure the RIP version on an interface.
Run system-view
The system view is displayed.
Run interfaceinterface-typeinterface-number
The interface view is displayed.
(Optional) On an Ethernet interface, run undo portswitch
The interface is switched to Layer 3 mode.
By default, an Ethernet interface works in Layer 2 mode.
Only the S5720-EI, S5720-HI, S5730-HI, S5731-H, S5731-S, S5731S-H, S5731S-S, S5732-H, S6720-EI, S6720-HI, S6720S-EI, S6730-H, S6730S-H, S6730-S, and S6730S-S support switching between Layer 2 and Layer 3 modes.
Run rip version { 1 | 2[ broadcast | multicast ] }
The RIP version is configured
on the interface.
By default, an interface sends only RIP-1 packets and receives
both RIP-1 and RIP-2 packets.
If no RIP version is configured in the interface view, the global
RIP version is used. The RIP version configured on an interface takes
precedence over the global RIP version.
