Configuring RIP to Advertise Default Routes

Context

In a routing table, a default route is the route to the network segment 0.0.0.0 (with the mask being 0.0.0.0). If the destination address of a packet does not match any entry in the routing table, the packet is sent along the default route.

Procedure

Run system-view
The system view is displayed.
Run rip [ process-id ]
The RIP view is displayed.
Run default-route originate [ cost cost | { { match default | route-policy route-policy-name } [ avoid-learning ] } ]^*
The device is configured to originate a default route or advertise the default route in the routing table to neighbors.
