Overview of SAVI
The device establishes a table recording bindings
between IP addresses and ports by listening to control packets for
allocating IP addresses in different modes. When a port receives an
ND packet, a DHCPv6 packet, or an IPv6 data packet, the device checks
whether the source address of the packet matches the IP address binding
to the port. If so, the packet is forwarded. If not, the packet is
discarded.
The SAVI function is available for the following IP address allocation
modes:
- DHCPv6-Only: indicates that the host connected to the device enabled
with the SAVI function can obtain an IP address using only DHCPv6.
- SLAAC-Only: indicates that the host connected to the device enabled
with the SAVI function can obtain the IP address using only Stateless
Address Autoconfiguration (SLAAC).
- DHCPv6 and SLAAC: indicates that the host connected to the device
enabled with the SAVI function can obtain the IP address using DHCPv6
or SLAAC.
