Configuring L2VPN Information Exchange Between the PE Devices

Context

To establish local connections, skip steps in this section.

On a network using Kompella VLL, two PE devices exchange VC labels to set up VC connections between them. The PE devices calculate the label values based on L2VPN information including label blocks and CE IDs. You need to configure MP-BGP to transmit L2VPN information including label blocks between the PE devices.

Procedure

  • Perform the following operations on the PE devices at both ends of a VC:
    1. Run system-view

      The system view is displayed.

    2. Run mpls l2vpn

MPLS L2VPN is enabled and the MPLS L2VPN view is displayed.

    3. Run quit

      Return to the system view.

    4. Run bgp { as-number-plain | as-number-dot }

      The BGP view is displayed.

    5. Run peer ipv4-address as-number as-number

A remote PE is specified as the peer.

    6. Run peer ipv4-address connect-interface loopback interface-number

An interface used to create the TCP connection is specified.

The loopback interface address with 32-bit mask must be used to establish the MP-IBGP peer relationship between the PEs. This can avoid failures in finding correct routes for packets due to route aggregation. The route to the loopback interface is advertised to the peer PE through IGP on the MPLS backbone network.

    7. Configure the Kompella VLL signaling capability.

Kompella VLL can use the BGP-L2VPN address family exclusively or share the address family with Kompella VPLS and BGP AD VPLS. If the local device needs to connect to a device running a version earlier than V200R003C00, follow Method 1. In all other scenarios, follow Method 2.

      • Method 1: Kompella VLL uses the address family exclusively.

        1. Run l2vpn-family

The BGP L2VPN address family view is displayed.

        2. Run peer ipv4-address enable

A peer is specified, and the function to exchange route information with the specified peer is enabled.

      • Method 2: The Kompella VLL, Kompella VPLS, and BGP AD VPLS share the address family.

        1. Run l2vpn-ad-family

The L2VPN AD address family view is displayed.

        2. Run peer ipv4-address enable

A peer is specified, and the function to exchange route information with the specified peer is enabled.

After you specify a peer in the L2VPN-AD address family view, the BGP AD signaling capability is enabled by default.

        3. Run signaling vpws or peer ip-address signaling vpws

The Kompella VLL signaling capability is enabled.

        4. (Optional) Run signaling vpls-ad disable or peer ip-address signaling vpls-ad disable

The BGP AD signaling capability is disabled.
