(Optional) Disabling VRRP TTL Check

Context

The system checks the TTL value in received VRRP Advertisement packets, and discards VRRP Advertisement packets with TTL values other than 255. On a network where devices of different vendors are deployed, if TTL check is enabled on the device, the device may incorrectly discard valid packets. In this case, disable TTL check so that devices of different vendors can communicate.

Procedure

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run interface interface-type interface-number

    The interface view is displayed.

  3. (Optional) On an Ethernet interface, run undo portswitch

The interface is switched to Layer 3 mode.

By default, an Ethernet interface works in Layer 2 mode.
