VRRP6 Advertisement packets are used to advertise the master router's priority value and status to other VRRP6 routers in a VRRP6 group. Sending the VRRP6 Advertisement packets helps implement status transition and master election. VRRP6 packets have the following attributes:
VRRP6 TTL detection: A VRRP-enabled device checks the TTL in every received VRRP6 Advertisement packet and discards the packets in which the TTL is not 255. On a network with Huawei and non-Huawei devices, this function needs to be disabled to prevent packet loss.
Sending ND packets carrying only the minimal inner VLAN ID: A QinQ termination sub-interface sends ND packets with two tags and the inner tag is a range of VLAN IDs. To ensure that switches connected to users learn the correct MAC address of the VRRP group, the VRRP group on the QinQ termination sub-interface sends ND packets to all VLANs identified by inner VLAN IDs. This increases the burden on the VRRP-enabled device. To relieve the burden, the VRRP-enabled device can be configured to send ND packets carrying only the minimal inner VLAN ID.
