Collecting VXLAN Packet Statistics

Context

If you want to check the network status or handle network faults, enable packet statistics collection in a BD and for VXLAN tunnels to view VXLAN packet statistics. The information helps you diagnose faults.

Procedure

  • Enable statistics collection in a BD.

    1. Run the system-view command to enter the system view.
    2. Run the bridge-domain bd-id command to create a BD and enter the BD view.
    3. Run the statistics enable command to enable statistics collection in a BD.

      By default, statistics collection is disabled in a BD.

  • Enable statistics collection on VXLAN tunnel packets.

    1. Run the system-view command to enter the system view.
    2. Run the interface nve nve-number command to create an NVE interface and enter the NVE interface view.
    3. Run the vxlan statistics peer { peer-ip-address | peer-ipv6-address } [ vni vni-id ] enable command to enable statistics collection on VXLAN tunnel packets.

      By default, statistics collection on VXLAN tunnel packets is disabled.

Follow-up Procedure

  • Run the display bridge-domain bd-id statistics command to view packet statistics in the BD.
  • Run the display vxlan statistics { source source-ip-address peer peer-ip-address | source source-ipv6-address peer peer-ipv6-address } [ vni vni-id ] command to view VXLAN tunnel packet statistics.
