Configuring Bluetooth-based Console Port Login on an AP

Context

APs may be widely distributed on a network. For a highly mounted AP, if the console port is required for fault diagnosis and debugging, the onsite personnel need to climb to the corresponding AP height and connect the console port cable, which is dangerous and time-consuming. If Bluetooth-based console port login is enabled on the AP, users can be connected to the AP through Bluetooth and use the CloudCampus APP to log in to the AP through the console port, facilitating fault diagnosis and debugging of the AP.

Configuration Precautions

  • The following AP models do not support the display of logs during AP startup on the CloudCampus APP: AP7050DE, AP4050DN-E, AP2051DN-E, AP2050DN-E, AP6052DN, AP7052DN, AP7152DN, AP7052DE, AP8082DN, AP8182DN, R251D-E, and R250D-E. After an AP starts, it supports Bluetooth-based console port login.

  • Users cannot configure the following physical attributes of Bluetooth-based console port login.
Table 1 Commands not supported by Bluetooth-based console port login

    Command

    Function

    speed speed-value

Sets the data transmission rate of a user interface.

    databits { 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 }

Sets the data bit of a user interface.

    parity { even | none | odd }

Sets the parity bit of a user interface.

    stopbits { 1.5 | 1 | 2 }

Sets the stop bit of a user interface.

  • Currently, only mobile phones can use the CloudCampus APP to implement Bluetooth-based console port login to the AP.
  • Bluetooth-based console port login does not support RFCOM and SPP.
  • Bluetooth-based console port login cannot be used together with Bluetooth-based monitoring, Bluetooth-based tag locating, and Bluetooth-based transparent data transmission.

Prerequisites

Console port login has been enabled on the AP using the undo console disable command.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run wlan

    The WLAN view is displayed.

  3. Run ap-system-profile name profile-name

An AP system profile is created, and the AP system profile view is displayed.

By default, the system provides the AP system profile default.

  4. Run the console ble-mode dynamic command to automatically enable Bluetooth-based console port login when the AP is disconnected from the AC.

The default mode of Bluetooth-based console port login is dynamic.

  5. Run quit

    Return to the WLAN view.

  6. Bind an AP system profile to an AP group or AP.

    • Binding an AP system profile to an AP group.
      1. Run the ap-group name group-name command to enter the AP group view.
      2. Run the ap-system-profile profile-name command to bind the AP system profile to the AP group.

By default, the AP system profile default is bound to an AP group.

    • Binding an AP system profile to an AP.
      1. Run the ap-id ap-id, ap-mac ap-mac, or ap-name ap-name command to enter the AP view.
      2. Run the ap-system-profile profile-name command to bind the AP system profile to the AP.

By default, no AP system profile is bound to an AP.

  7. Within the Bluetooth coverage area of the AP, enable Bluetooth on the STA and run the CloudCampus APP.
  8. Choose My Toolkit > More tools and enable Bluetooth Serial Port.
  9. Find the target AP based on the MAC address and click Connect.
  10. Enter the pairing code 123456 in the dialog box that is displayed and click OK.
After Successful connection is displayed, click Enter to access the AP login page.

The pairing code is required only for Android9.0 or a later version. In versions earlier than Android9.0, the connection is automatically established after you click Connect without the need of the pairing code.

  11. Enter the user name and password as prompted to log in to the user interface.

The default Username/Password is admin/admin@huawei.com. If no login prompt is displayed after you click Enter, try clicking any key on the keyboard of the STA to activate the screen.

Verifying the Configuration

  • Run the display ap-system-profile { all | name profile-name } command to check the Bluetooth-based console port login mode in the AP system profile.
  • Run the display wlan console ble statistics { ap-id ap-id | ap-name ap-name } command to check statistics about Bluetooth-based console port login on an AP.
  • Run the reset wlan console ble statistics { ap-id ap-id | ap-name ap-name } command to clear statistics about Bluetooth-based console port login on an AP.
  • Run the display wlan ble-link-info { ap-id ap-id | ap-name ap-name } command to check connection information about the Bluetooth-based air interface on an AP.

Follow-up Operations

After a user uses the CloudCampus APP to implement Bluetooth-based console port login to the AP, the AP can be located by triggering the AP's indicator to blink.

  1. Choose Common > AP Light in the lower right corner of the CLI for Bluetooth-based console port login.
  2. Set the indicator blinking duration based on the prompts on the CLI.
    <Huawei> led blink-time ?
      INTEGER<1-86400> Led Blink Time <1-86400> (unit:seconds)
    <Huawei> led blink-time 20
After the configuration is completed, the device indicator blinks within the blinking duration, helping you locate the AP based on the indicator blinking state.
