Configuring Traffic Limit

Context

Traffic limit configuration in a traffic profile can reduce unnecessary packet forwarding and improve air interface performance.

Pre-configuration Tasks

Before configuring traffic limit, perform the task of WLAN Service Configuration Guide.

Procedure

Run system-view
The system view is displayed.
Run wlan
The WLAN view is displayed.
Run traffic-profile name profile-name
A traffic profile is created, and the traffic profile view is displayed.
Run the following commands as required:
- Configure air interfaces to convert broadcast or multicast packets into unicast packets.
  1. Run the traffic-optimize bcmc unicast-send { arp | nd | dhcp } ^* command to configure air interfaces to convert broadcast or multicast packets into unicast packets.
    
    By default, the function of converting broadcast or multicast packets to unicast packets is configured on an air interface.
  2. Run the traffic-optimize bcmc unicast-send mismatch-action drop command to configure air interfaces to discard broadcast or multicast packets that fail to be converted into unicast packets.
    
    By default, if broadcast or multicast packets fail to be converted into unicast packets on air interfaces, the packets are discarded.
- Configure air interfaces to forbid downstream broadcast or multicast packets.
  1. Run the traffic-optimize arp-proxy enable command to enable ARP proxy.
    
    By default, ARP proxy is disabled.
  2. Run the traffic-optimize nd-proxy enable command to enable ND proxy.
    
    By default, ND proxy is disabled.
  3. Run the traffic-optimize bcmc deny all command to forbid the AP to forward downstream broadcast or multicast packets.
    
    By default, an air interface is allowed to forward downstream broadcast or multicast packets.
    
    Before using the traffic-optimize bcmc deny all command to forbid an AP to forward downstream broadcast or multicast packets, run the undo learn-client-address { ipv4 | ipv6 } disable command to enable STA address learning and the traffic-optimize bcmc unicast-send { arp | nd | dhcp } ^* command to configure the function of converting broadcast or multicast packets to unicast packets on an air interface. Otherwise, the ARP, ND, and DHCP packets may fail to be forwarded.
- Configure the maximum volume of broadcast traffic allowed in the traffic profile.
  1. Run the traffic-optimize broadcast-suppression packets packets-rate command to configure the maximum volume of broadcast traffic allowed in the traffic profile.
    
    By default, broadcast packets are not suppressed on a traffic profile.
- Configure the maximum volume of multicast traffic allowed in the traffic profile.
  1. Run the traffic-optimize multicast-suppression packets packets-rate command to configure the maximum volume of multicast traffic allowed in the traffic profile.
    
    By default, multicast packets are not suppressed in a traffic profile.
- Configure the maximum volume of unknown unicast traffic allowed in the traffic profile.
  1. Run the traffic-optimize unicast-suppression packets packets-rate command to configure the maximum volume of unknown unicast traffic allowed in the traffic profile.
    
    By default, unknown unicast packets are not suppressed in a traffic profile.
- Forbid air interfaces to forward packets to bridging STAs.
  1. Run the traffic-optimize sta-bridge-forward disable command to forbid air interfaces to forward packets to bridging STAs.
    
    By default, an air interface is allowed to forward packets to bridging terminals.
Run quit
Return to the WLAN view.
Run vap-profile name profile-name
The VAP profile view is displayed.
Run traffic-profile profile-name
The traffic profile is bound to the VAP profile.

By default, the traffic profile default is bound to a VAP profile.

Verifying the Configuration

Run the display traffic-profile { all | name profile-name } command to check the traffic limit configuration in a traffic profile.
