Configuring Direct Report of AP KPI Information

Context

Only WMI-supported APs can report KPIs to a WMI server.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run wlan

    The WLAN view is displayed.

  3. (Optional) Enable the device to collect wireless device location data.

This configuration is required when the device needs to report wireless device location data to a WMI server for customer flow analysis.

    1. Run location-profile name profile-name

A location profile is created, and the location profile view is displayed.

By default, no location profile is created.

    2. Run collect-location-data enable

The device is enabled to collect wireless device location data.

By default, the device does not collect wireless device location data.

    3. Run collect-location-data rssi-threshold rssi-threshold

The RSSI threshold for wireless device location data is configured.

The default RSSI threshold for wireless device location data is -75 dBm.

    4. Run quit

      Return to the WLAN view.

  4. Run wmi-server name profile-name

A WMI profile is created and the WMI profile view is displayed.

By default, no WMI profile is created.

  5. Run server ip-address ip-address port port

The destination IP address and port number are configured for APs to report KPI information.

By default, no destination IP address or port number is configured for APs to report KPI information.

Set ip-address ip-address to the IP address of a WMI server.

  6. (Optional) Run keepalive { interval interval | retry-interval retry-interval | retry-number retry-number } *

Connection parameters between APs and a WMI server are set.

By default, the heartbeat interval is 3 minutes, the reconnection interval is 5 minutes, and the number of reconnection attempts is 0.

The value 0 indicates that the server and APs always attempt to reconnect to each other.

  7. (Optional) Run max-packet-size size

The maximum data length of KPI information sent by APs to a WMI server is specified.

By default, the maximum data length of KPI information sent by APs to a WMI server is 5 KB.

  8. (Optional) Run report-interval interval

The interval for APs to report KPI information to a WMI server is specified.

By default, APs report KPI information to a WMI server at an interval of 60 seconds.

  9. (Optional) Run collect-item { application-statistics-data | cpcar-data | device-data | emdi-data | interface-data | log-data | neighbor-device-data | radio-data | ssid-data | terminal-data } { interval interval | disable } or collect-item { location-data | terminal-dhcp-option-data | terminal-http-ua-data | terminal-mdns-data } { interval interval | enable }

Whether APs report collected data to a WMI server is configured, and the data collection interval is specified.

By default, APs report all types of collected data to a WMI server. The data collection interval varies depending on the data type, as listed in Table 1, and the default values are recommended.
Table 1 Default settings of the data collection interval

    Data Type

Default Data Collection Interval (Unit: Second)

    300

Service information in the mDNS packets sent by STAs

    300

You can run this command multiple times to configure APs to report different types of data to a WMI server.

  10. Run quit

    Return to the WLAN view.

  11. Run ap-system-profile name profile-name

An AP system profile is created, and the AP system profile view is displayed.

By default, the system provides the AP system profile default.

  12. Run wmi-server profile-name index index

The WMI profile is bound to the AP system view.

By default, no WMI profile is bound to an AP system profile.

  13. Run quit

    Return to the WLAN view.

  14. Bind an AP system profile to an AP group or AP.

    • Binding an AP system profile to an AP group.
      1. Run ap-group name group-name

The AP group view is displayed.

      2. Run ap-system-profile profile-name

The AP system profile is bound to the AP group.

By default, the AP system profile default is bound to an AP group.

      3. (Optional) Run location-profile profile-name radio { radio-id | all }

The location profile is bound to the specified radio.

By default, no location profile is bound to a radio.

This configuration is required when the device needs to report wireless device location data to a WMI server for customer flow analysis.

    • Binding an AP system profile to an AP.
      1. Run any of the following commands:
        • ap-id ap-id
        • ap-mac ap-mac
        • ap-name ap-name

        The AP view is displayed.

      2. Run ap-system-profile profile-name

The AP system profile is bound to the AP.

By default, no AP system profile is bound to an AP.

      3. (Optional) Run location-profile profile-name radio { radio-id | all }

The location profile is bound to the specified radio.

By default, no location profile is bound to a radio.

This configuration is required when the device needs to report wireless device location data to a WMI server for customer flow analysis.

Verifying the Configuration

  • Run the display wmi-server { all | name wmi-server-name } command to check configuration and reference information about a WMI profile.
  • Run the display references wmi-server name wmi-server-name command to check reference information about a WMI profile.
