Licensing Requirements

The IPv6 over IPv4 tunnel function is a basic feature of a switch and is not under license control.

Only the following switch models support the IPv6 over IPv4 Tunnel:

S5720-EI, S5720-HI, S5720I-SI, S5720S-SI, S5720-SI, S5735-S, S5735S-S, S5735-S-I, S5730-HI, S5730S-EI, S5730-SI, S5731-H, S5731-S, S5731S-H, S5731S-S, S5732-H, S6720-EI, S6720-HI, S6720S-EI, S6720S-SI, S6720-SI, S6730-H, S6730S-H, S6730-S, and S6730S-S

Feature Limitations

• The IPv6 over IPv4 tunnel function does not take effect after you perform one of the following operations:

  • Running the ip error-packet-check disable command to disable the IP packet checking function on the S5720I-SI, S5720S-SI, or S5720-SI

  • Running the drop illegal-mac alarm command to configure the switch to send a trap to the network management system (NMS) when receiving a packet with an all-0 MAC address on the S5720I-SI, S5720S-SI, S5720-SI, S5730S-EI, S5730-SI, S6720S-SI, or S6720-SI

  • Running the drop illegal-mac enable command to discard packets with an all-0 invalid MAC address on the S5720I-SI, S5720S-SI, S5720-SI, S5730S-EI, S5730-SI, S6720S-SI, or S6720-SI

• The switches in stack do not support the IPv6 over IPv4 Tunnel function.
• In the 6PE scenario, MPLS TE tunnels cannot be used on IPv4 backbone networks or public networks.
