Licensing Requirements and Limitations for MFF

Involved Network Elements

Other network elements are not required.

Licensing Requirements

MFF is a basic feature of a switch and is not under license control.

Feature Support in V200R019C10

All models of S2720, S5700, and S6700 series switches support MFF.

For details about software mappings, visit Hardware Query Tool and search for the desired product model.

Feature Limitations

  • MFF can be enabled in a maximum of 64 VLANs on the S5720-EI, S5720-HI, S5730-HI, S5731-H, S5731-S, S5731S-H, S5731S-S, S5732-H, S6720-EI, S6720-HI, S6720S-EI, S6730-H, S6730S-H, S6730-S, and S6730S-S, and 32 VLANs on other models.

  • When the number of MFF-enabled VLANs reaches the limit, the MFF function can still be enabled in other VLANs if there are ample ACL resources on the device.

  • If MFF is enabled on the switch and VRRP is enabled on the gateway device, users connected to the switch know only the virtual MAC address and virtual IP address of the gateway. To ensure correct service forwarding, run the mac-forced-forwarding server server-ip &<1-10> command in the VLAN view with server-ip set to the actual IP address of the gateway.
