Other network elements are required to support RIP.
RIP is a basic feature of a switch and is not under license control.
All models of S2720, S5700, and S6700 series switches support RIP.
For details about software mappings, visit Hardware Query Tool and search for the desired product model.
When the maximum number of RIP routes supported by a switch is fixed, the maximum number of running RIP routes supported on the switch is limited by the CAR value of RIP protocol packets, interval for sending RIP update packets, and values of RIP Age and Garbage-collect timers. To increase the maximum number of running RIP routes on a switch if there are large numbers of RIP routes running on the network, increase the values of the Age timer, Garbage-collect timer, or CAR for RIP protocol packets, as well as reducing the interval for sending RIP update packets.
