Licensing Requirements and Limitations for SEP

Involved Network Elements

Other network elements also need to support SEP.

Licensing Requirements

SEP is a basic feature of a switch and is not under license control.

Feature Support in V200R019C10

All models of S2720, S5700, and S6700 series switches support SEP.

For details about software mappings, visit Hardware Query Tool and search for the desired product model.

Feature Limitations

  • Table 1 lists the specification of SEP.

    Table 1 Specification of SEP

    Item

    Specification

Maximum number of segments on the device

    In V200R012C00 earlier versions: 16

    In V200R012C00 and later versions:

    • S2750-EI, S5700-LI and S5700S-LI: 16

    • Other supported models: 48

  • On a SEP network where there are no-neighbor edge interfaces, a device that is not in a SEP segment cannot be added to the control VLAN of the SEP segment. Otherwise, a loop will occur on the network.

  • If both SEP and VLL are deployed on the network and the SEP segment ID configured on the PE is different from that configured on the CE, SEP protocol packets sent by the CE cannot traverse VLL tunnels. Therefore, SEP cannot be used to connect o VLL networks through the closed ring topology.
