Licensing Requirements and Limitations for WLAN Tag Location

Involved Network Elements

APs mentioned in this document are Huawei AP products. You are advised to use Huawei APs to connect to the AC.
You can run the display ap-type all command to check the default AP types supported by the device.
When central APs and RUs are used, ensure that their versions are the same. For example, if the central AP version is V200R007C10, the RU version must be V200R007C10.

Location server

Computes the RFID tag location using a location algorithm (for example, three-point positioning) after receiving the location information and provides the computed data to user systems, including the system management software and image software.

Licensing Requirements

When the device is used as a WLAN AC, the number of online APs supported by the device is controlled by licenses. The device supports a maximum of 16 online APs. To increase the number of online APs supported by the device, apply for and purchase a license from the agent.

Feature Support in V200R019C10

This feature is supported only by the following models: S5720-HI, S5730-HI, S5731-H, S5731S-H, S5732-H, S6720-HI, S6730S-H, and S6730-H.

Feature Limitations

WLAN Location of AeroScout Tags and AeroScout MUs

The AirEngine 5760-22W, AirEngine 5760-22WD, AirEngine 5760-51, AirEngine 6760R-51, AirEngine 6760R-51E, AirEngine 6760-X1, AirEngine 6760-X1E, AirEngine 8760R-X1, AirEngine 8760R-X1E, AirEngine 8760-X1-PRO, AirEngine 9700D-M (including the mapping RUs), AP6310SN-GN and AP9330DN do not support Tag location.
The AirEngine 5760-22W, AirEngine 5760-22WD, AirEngine 5760-51, AirEngine 6760R-51, AirEngine 6760R-51E, AirEngine 6760-X1, AirEngine 6760-X1E, AirEngine 8760R-X1, AirEngine 8760R-X1E, AirEngine 8760-X1-PRO, AirEngine 9700D-M (including the mapping RUs), AP3010DN-AGN, AP6310SN-GN, and AP9330DN do not support AeroScout MU location.
When configuring the AC as the destination to which the AP reports location information:
- Configure the port number used by the AC to communicate with the AeroScout location server.
- Ensure that the port number configured on the AeroScout location server is the same as that used by AC to communicate with the AeroScout location server.
When configuring the AeroScout location server as the destination to which the AP reports location information, ensure that the port number used by the AP to report location information is the same as that configured on the AeroScout location server.
The port number used by the AP to report location information cannot be the same as that used by the AC to communicate with the location server.
If the location server runs the Linux system and has URPF enabled, the server must be able to successfully ping the source IP address that the AC uses to send packets.

WLAN Location of Ekahau Tags

The AirEngine 5760-22W, AirEngine 5760-22WD, AirEngine 5760-51, AirEngine 6760R-51, AirEngine 6760R-51E, AirEngine 6760-X1, AirEngine 6760-X1E, AirEngine 8760R-X1, AirEngine 8760R-X1E, AirEngine 8760-X1-PRO, AirEngine 9700D-M (including the mapping RUs), AP9330DN does not support Tag location.
When configuring the AC as the destination to which the AP reports location information:
- Configure the port number used by the AC to communicate with the Ekahau location server and the IP address of the Ekahau location server on the AC.
- Ensure that the port number configured on the Ekahau location server is the same as that used by AC to communicate with the Ekahau location server.
When configuring the Ekahau location server as the destination to which the AP reports location information, ensure that the port number used by the AP to report location information is the same as that configured on the Ekahau location server.
The port number used by the AP to report location information cannot be the same as that used by the AC to communicate with the location server.
If the location server runs the Linux system and has URPF enabled, the server must be able to successfully ping the source IP address that the AC uses to send packets.

The customer flow analysis function is not available for the AirEngine 8760-X1-PRO, AirEngine 8760R-X1, AirEngine 8760R-X1E, AirEngine 6760-X1, AirEngine 6760-X1E, AirEngine 6760R-51, AirEngine 6760R-51E, AirEngine 5760-51, AirEngine 5760-22W, and AirEngine 5760-22WD.
