Device Upgrade

Context

Smart upgrade implements one-click loading and upgrade of a new version by connecting the device to be upgraded to the Huawei Online Upgrade Platform (HOUP) through the Internet. After the smart upgrade function is enabled, the switch periodically sends its information to the HOUP platform, which then obtains the latest version information of the switch based on the maintenance policy. After a user confirms that the upgrade is conducted immediately, the switch automatically downloads the software package and completes the upgrade.

Procedure

Configure the smart upgrade function.
1. Choose Maintenance > Device Upgrade. The smart upgrade page is displayed, as shown in Figure 1.

2. Set Automatic version upgrade check to ON. The automatic upgrade check function is enabled.
  
  Before enabling the automatic upgrade check function, select I have read and accept Letter of Authorization for the Huawei Product Online Upgrade Service. Click Letter of Authorization for the Huawei Product Online Upgrade Service to view the content of the agreement.
3. (Optional) Set Login reminder to ON. The reminder function of the web system is enabled.
  After the reminder function of the web system is enabled, the following messages will be displayed in the upper part of the page if the smart upgrade function is not enabled or if a new version is detected:
  The smart upgrade function is disabled. Enable this function on the Device Upgrade page.
  New version detected.
  If you click Enable or Click to view, the Device Upgrade page is displayed. If you click Never remind again, the reminder function of the web system is disabled.
4. (Optional) In the Contact Information area, set Email and Phone so that the HOUP platform notifies HOUP maintenance engineers of the upgrade result if an smart upgrade fails. Click Apply.
5. In the SSL certificate information area, bind the SSL policy for smart upgrade and load the certificate.
  
  In smart upgrades, a switch uses HTTPS to connect to the HOUP platform. Therefore, an SSL policy must be bound to establish an HTTPS connection.
Check the check result and trigger the upgrade function.
1. In the Check Result area, click Re-check to start the check.
2. If a new version is detected, click View Details to view the upgrade details. You can use any of the following methods to perform the upgrade:
  - Click Upgrade Immediately to download the latest software and patches to the switch. Then, upgrade the system.
  - Click Download All to LSW or Download Version to download the latest software and patches to the switch, and then perform the upgrade.
  - Click Download All to PC or to download the latest software and patches to the PC. Then, load the software and patches to the switch and perform the upgrade.
  When there is insufficient system space, you cannot perform an immediate upgrade or download files to the switch. Download the files to the PC, or click View System Memory to delete unnecessary files, and then download the files to the switch.
  
  If the switch fails to communicate with the server (http://houp.huawei.com), rectify the fault based on the troubleshooting suggestions displayed on the page.
View the information about the last upgrade task.
In the Last Upgrade Task Information area, you can view the upgrade task category, upgrade time, and upgrade state.
