Only the S5720-EI, S5720-HI, S5720I-SI, S5720-LI, S5735-L, S5735S-L, S5735S-L-M, S5720S-LI, S5720S-SI, S5720-SI, S5735-S, S5735S-S, S5735-S-I, S5730-HI, S5730S-EI, S5730-SI, S5731-H, S5731-S, S5731S-H, S5731S-S, S5732-H, S6720-EI, S6720-HI, S6720-LI, S6720S-EI, S6720S-LI, S6720S-SI, S6720-SI, S6730-H, S6730S-H, S6730-S, and S6730S-S support this command.

Usage Guidelines

You can run the display snmp-agent trap feature-name pim all command to view the status of all PIM traps when you want to monitor the current status of PIM protocol events but are not sure whether the PIM trap function is enabled. You can use the snmp-agent trap enable feature-name pim command to enable the trap function of PIM.

Feature name

Name of the module.

Trap number

Number of trap event types.

Trap name

Trap event type. The following types of trap events are defined:
  • neighbor-loss: A neighbor is lost.
  • invalid-register: An invalid Register message is received.
  • invalid-join-prune: An invalid Join/Prune message is received.
  • rp-mapping-change: The RP-mapping changes.
  • interface-election: An interface is elected as the DR.
  • new-neighbor: A new neighbor appears.
  • mrt-limit: The number of PIM entries exceeds the limit for the multicast routing table (MRT).
  • HWPIMMRTLIMITCLEAR: The total number of PIM entries falls below the limit.
  • hwPimStarGThresholdExceed: The proportion of PIM (*, G) entries created to the maximum PIM (*, G) entries allowed exceeds the upper alarm threshold.
  • hwPimSGThresholdExceed: The proportion of PIM (S, G) entries created to the maximum PIM (S, G) entries allowed exceeds the upper alarm threshold.
  • hwPimStarGExceed: The number of PIM (*, G) entries created exceeds the maximum number of PIM (*, G) entries allowed.
  • hwPimSGExceed: The number of PIM (S, G) entries created exceeds the maximum number of PIM (S, G) entries allowed.
  • hwPimStarGThresholdExceedClear: The proportion of PIM (*, G) entries created to the maximum PIM (*, G) entries allowed falls below the lower alarm threshold.
  • hwPimSGThresholdExceedClear: The proportion of PIM (S, G) entries created to the maximum PIM (S, G) entries allowed falls below the lower alarm threshold.
  • hwPimStarGExceedClear: The number of PIM (*, G) entries created falls below the maximum number of PIM (*, G) entries allowed.
  • hwPimSGExceedClear: The number of PIM (S, G) entries created falls below the maximum number of PIM (S, G) entries allowed.

Default switch status

Default status of a trap function:
  • on: indicates that the trap function is enabled by default.
  • off: indicates that the trap function is disabled by default.

Current switch status

Current status of a trap function:
  • on: indicates that the trap function is enabled.
  • off: indicates that the trap function is disabled.
