BGP_1.3.6.1.4.1.2011.5.25.177.1.3.1 ROUTETHRESHOLDEXCEED

Trap Buffer Description

The number of routes received from the BGP peer exceeded the alarm threshold. (InstanceId=[InstanceId], Afi=[AddrFamilyAfi], Safi=[AddrFamilySafi], PeerRemoteAddrType=[PeerIPAddrType], PeerRemoteAddr=[PeerIPAddr], MaxRouteNumber=[RouteLimitNum], AlarmThreshold=[RouteLimitThreshold])

Alarm when route-limit threshold is configured and the number of routes from peer exceed the threshold.

Impact on the System

1) If the alarm threshold is set to 100% and the alert-only parameter is not configured for a peer, the peer relationship is torn down and all routes received by the peer are deleted.2) This command does not affect the neighbors that are configured with other parameters.

Possible Causes

The number of routes received from the BGP peer configured with route-limit exceeds the alarm threshold.

Procedure

1. Using the display bgp peer verbose command to see whether the number of routes received from the peer exceeds the maximum number x threshold(%). 1) Y=>2. 2) N=>9. 2. Make sure whether it is practicalities demand for the route-limit config. 1) Y=>8. 2) N=>3. 3. Look over at the user logs, check whether once the local import-route policy is modified for some reason, eg: peer route-policy/ip-prefix/filter-policy .etc, which leads to receiving too much routes unnecessary. 1) Y=>4. 2) N=>5. 4. Update local import-route policy, eg: peer route-policy/ip-prefix/filter-policy etc, reject the unnecessary routes. =>10. 5. Contact the peer-end maintenance personnel, checking whether all the routes are necessary. 1) Y=>6. 2) N=>7. 6. Advising the peer-end maintenance personnel to do some aggregating process, to reduce the number of routes advertised. =>10. 7. Advising the peer-end maintenance personnel to change the policy for import-route or advertise-route, to reduce unnecessary routes. =>10. 8. Please change the config of the route-limit number, to increase the maximum number of routes received. =>10. 9. Please contact Huawei technical engineer. 10. End.
