The timer auto-remote keepalive-hold command sets the value of the global Keepalive hold timer for remote LDP peers with the trigger sources of the L2VPN, Auto-Accept, and RLFA.
The undo timer auto-remote keepalive-hold command restores the default value of the global Keepalive hold timer.
By default, the value of the global Keepalive hold timer is 45s.
Usage Scenario
LDP peers exchange LDP PDUs to maintain LDP sessions. If a node does not receive any LDP PDU after the Keepalive hold timer expires, the node closes the connection to terminate the session.
The default value is recommended. On a network with unstable links, increase the value of a Keepalive hold timer, preventing a remote LDP session from flapping. NOTE: The value of the timer that takes effect is the smaller one of the values of the two Keepalive hold timers configured on both ends of a remote LDP session. The Keepalive hold timer configured in the remote LDP peer view takes precedence over the global Keepalive hold timer. If the Keepalive hold timer is configured both globally and in the remote LDP peer view, the setting in the MPLS-LDP remote peer view takes effect.Prerequisites
MPLS LDP has been enabled globally.
Implementation Procedure
When the timer auto-remote keepalive-hold command is run, the system displays the following message to trigger the reestablishment of an LDP session:
Warning: All the related sessions will be deleted if the operation is performed! Continue? [Y/N]:y Enter y if you confirm to execute this command.Configuration Impact
Running the timer auto-remote keepalive-hold command to change the Keepalive hold timer results in the reestablishment of an LDP session.
Precautions
If there is more than one LDP link between two LSRs, the values of the Keepalive hold timers set for the links must be the same. Otherwise, the LDP sessions may be unstable.
If a single session over multiple links or a local and remote coexistent session is established between two devices, the same Keepalive Hold timer must be used on both ends.
