Usage Guidelines

Usage Scenario

A master delivers the role ap command to an AP, and the AP automatically runs the command and saves it to a configuration file. You do not need to run the command.

After the AP automatically runs the command, port extension capability is automatically enabled on all Ethernet interfaces on the AP, and IS-IS process is automatically enabled based on the following rules:

  • By default, no IS-IS process exists, and an IS-IS process with the ID of 65534 is automatically created.
  • If one or more IS-IS processes exist and IS-IS process 65534 is in use, the system searches for an unused IS-IS process ID that is closest to 65534 from the IDs 1 to 65534 and uses the ID as the IS-IS process ID for port extension.
  • If one or more IS-IS processes exist and process 65534 is not used, IS-IS process 65534 is automatically created.

Precautions

This command is supported only on the admin VS.

When you directly log in to an AP:

  • If the AP has established a NETCONF channel to a master, the role ap command cannot be run.
  • If the AP has not established a NETCONF channel to a master, the role ap command can be run.

The role ap and mpls (system view) commands are mutually exclusive.
