Function

The loss-measure enable command enables on-demand packet loss measurement for an IP Flow Performance Measurement (IP FPM) instance.

The undo loss-measure enable command disables on-demand packet loss measurement for an IP Flow Performance Measurement (IP FPM) instance.

The loss-measure enable continual command enables proactive packet loss measurement for an IP Flow Performance Measurement (IP FPM) instance.

The undo loss-measure enable command disables proactive packet loss measurement from an IP FPM instance.

By default, proactive packet loss measurement and on-demand packet loss measurement are disabled from an IP FPM instance.

Format

loss-measure enable [ time-range time-range | continual ]

undo loss-measure enable

Parameters

Parameter Description Value
time-range time-range

Specifies the statistical period for on-demand packet loss measurement.

The value is an integer that can be 5, 10, 15, or 30, in minutes.

The default value is 10 minutes.

Usage Guidelines

Usage Scenario

The IP FPM performance statistics serve as a reliable reference for assessing IP network performance and therefore are useful for fault diagnosis and service statistics.

  • To monitor on-demand packet loss performance in a specified period, run the loss-measure enable command.
  • To detect faults when network performance deteriorates and monitor proactive packet loss performance, run the loss-measure enable continual command.

Prerequisites

An IP FPM model has been established, including configuring a DCP and MCP, binding a TLP to a physical interface, and creating a target flow and IP FPM instance.

Precautions

After a master/slave main control board switchover or a device restart, on-demand packet loss measurement does not take effect any longer.

On-demand packet loss measurement cannot function together with proactive packet loss measurement.
